Question Sould I buy or build my next 1911

oops messed up hit yes to just buy
no to build FIXED IT

Pretty simple question,I would like to build a 1911 that way I can learn even more about it. I've field stripped the 1911 but never took it apart any further. it is however my favorite platform and has been since day one 5yrs ago when I held my first one,it's more than a tool to me it has too much history behind it. that being said i've never really done any of my own work but do consider myself reasonably capable of doing most of the work myself. the final factor for me is price my funds are limited in the immediate sense that i cannot just drop the 400-700 required to pick up one of the 1911's i want, whereas if i build my own starting with a frame i can work on it at my own pace as i pick up parts. so should i just save and buy one outright or go the longer route but learn a wholelot more about the internals of my favorite handgun.

How about both? Shop around for a used one in fair condition. That way you could shoot it and make revisions as you go.

I said to build... Only because I really wanted to build one for myself... but in Kommiefornia, you cant bring any bare frames into the state because they cant be drop tested...

I was never able to find an already in state frame, so I decided to buy a TRP and I will probably upgrade as I go along.

Buy. Building is a pain. To do it right requires a couple of hundred dollars worth of tools.
