My opinion probably doesn't really count here, as I am allowed to carry at work.

However, that said, I would carry anyway, without permission. I have worked many jobs that did not allow me to, and I carried anyway, and I was never discovered!

We have no policy against carrying at work. There are four of us in the office and only the secretary does not carry but she can handle a firearm no problem. The door is kept locked 99% of the time because we have had some strange folks wander in off the street looking for a hand-out and some get real nasty when they don't get it.Plus sometimes I am working alone almost around the clock to finish a project or prep a new one and get it started. Most of our church carries as well so prayerfuly nobody comes in and tries to rob the offering, they would most certainly find themselves in an "UH-OH" situation.

+1. Also, as Bree suggested I'd carry the smallest gun possible in the most discreet manner possible.

You will not lose your permit if you are not carrying illegally. Cant happen.

You can be fired if at work against policy and removed and fined for trespassing if on privae property/businesses.
Don't bet that it can't happen in New York. Here a judge or the licensing officer can yank your permit sua sponte. They don't need a precipitating factor or any prompting whatsoever. They don't even need a reason. If they think that you might be some kind of risk or thaqt you no longer have good reason to have the license, bang... zoom... it's gone. Then you can try to fight to get it back... often in front of the judge who just took it.

Good luck.

Lots of places require "proper cause" to issue. If at any time they think that the "proper cause" no longer exists you are at risk of losing your CCW. This is life in many states that are not "shall issue". It sucks.

I carry at work

The company I work for is on the side of a major Interstate. We have had 2 seperate inncodents where an armed felons try to enter the building while being chased by the highway patrol. Allthough it is in our company hand book not to have firearms in the building, I choose to risk it. Customers can carry in our building so they aren't totaly band.
The only way they will know if I am carring, is if the cops have to draw a chalk outline.

I like my job and abide by company policy while on company property (states it's a terminating offense).

BUT

I have also instructed my wife, if I'm killed by another person while on company property, to sue the crap out of them for inadequately protecting me as the policy forbids me the ability to protect myself while on company property.
