I always tip. And heres some info that you might want to know..a few years back when I was young and smart I was sitting in the passenger side scrounging for a $1, everyone in the vehicle was complaining about chiming in $1 more each..I made the comment, ok..if the waitress is hot, you all chip in the 3 more bucks. she walks out.
Walks to MY window and says, so do I get the extra tip and smiled.

They sometimes forget to turn off the lil microphone so be careful what you say!

and yes she got the extra 3 bucks .

I had no idea they are only making $2 and something an hour. That's crazy.

This poll is skewed. There should be an entry for "Do you eat at Sonic?" Because I have one just up the street from were I work, and I still don't eat there...

Hmm... Here in Oregon the state Minimum Wage is $7.95 an hour. And that's what they make. And it's not slave labor unless the people are being forced to work there against their will.

FWIW EVERYONE that is not underage (under 16, I believe) is paid minimum wage, including servers. That means EVERY server that is 16 years or older makes the federal minimum wage at the very least, including the tips.

If you're a server, and you made no tips that day, your employer must compensate you so you have earned at least min wage.

That's why i never bother listening to servers complain about not being paid enough. When you get the job, you're entitled to the same exact minimum pay the rest of the country is, and you know that going in. If you want more money get a different job.

Tipping is Karma insurance. I will tip well.

Having said that Sonic and most fast food places are not on my list of places to tip. I can see tipping but that would have to exceptional service. Most of the Sonics that I have been to have a problem understanding that they are ultimately working for me. The customer service, if you can even call it that, is lacking. I have a mental list of sonics that I will not go to due to the way that they poor service and food preparation.
