Trigger job on a carry gun?
I already own an XD with the Springer Combat/Carry trigger job. I'm thinking of sending my XD-9 subcompact off to Springer for some night sights and possibly a combat/carry trigger job. This is currently 100% stock, and my everyday carry gun. I've done the searches...I've seen the threads on legal issues.....take the poll and tell me what you think

I think the XD's trigger is perfect as is for carry. That's not saying I wouldn't have work done to other firearms for carry purposes. Just not the XD as is.

How is a carry trigger job different than the stock trigger pull? I've heard of this type of trigger job on a few threads on here, but haven't really looking into what it actually does to the trigger pull.

It shortens the take-up, overtravel and reset of the trigger, and lightens the pull a bit to around 4.5 lbs. I love it on my XD9 service, which is why I was thinking about it for the subcompact. I definitely get better groups and follow-up shots with the Springer trigger on the service.

I voted yes for a trigger job, however, that is only for those that think they want it. Ipersonally like the XD45acp trigger as it is for carry, but I am not against a trigger improvement.

Thanks for the clarification. I wouldn't mind reducing overtravel and reset. I don't mind the trigger weight for a carry gun.

I had it done and was my everyday carry. If you shoot yourself because of an inadvertent trigger pull (for whatever reason) the trigger job wouldn't have made a difference.
As for legal issues, I hear all these hypotheticals, but no real world cases. If a DA wants you that bad you're screwed anyway. Get it done and enjoy. The .00001% chance it will even come up is not something to worry about, IMHO.

Powder River Precision That along with the Powder River Precision is the cheapest and easiest way to reduce the take-up, over-travel, and reset of the trigger on the XD model pistols without modifying the striker safety in the slide. Have one on my XD45 Compact and I LOVE it..
