The way I see it is that most 1911's and even Sigs (single action trigger pull) have a stock trigger setting of 3.5-4.5lbs. So if you can buy it like that already whats the difference if you send it to a competent Gun Smith to have the work done? I would think it wouldn't be a big deal. But if they want to fry you they will get you no matter what.

I voted NO as I intend to get a Competition trigger job on my carry XD. Why the competition vs. the combat? Because I can achieve the same results of the carry/combat by simply shooting the gun a lot. I find the results are much greater with the competition trigger. I will have the weight set at 4-4.5#s for carry purposes, but otherwise eliminate travel, overtravel, and reduce reset.

That's my thinking anyway. Any thoughts?

I've got the Powder River kit ready to go into my XD-9s/c. Just haven't gotten around to doing it yet(only had it a couple days now though).

I had to vote "No" on this one, and just as I thought the poll results are pretty even. A carry weapon is there as a last-ditch, close range tool to defend yourself or others from the threat of great bodily harm or death. I don't own a handgun that couldn't accomplish that task as it came from the manufacturer. If you want a race gun or a target pistol, by all means do everything you can to improve accuracy and tighten up those groups. I'll continue to carry a weapon that consistantly gives me 4 inch groups or less out to 10 yards...rapid fire and double taps...just like it came from the factory, and not give them any ammunition (pardon the pun) when it comes to the eventual criminal or civil trial afterwards. Remember "I was in fear for my life so I used my weapon to defend myself. I wish to speak to my attorney."

Exactly. If you intend to defend your life, why in the world would you NOT make the tool the best it can be for the task?

I challenge anyone to provide a case where the modifications to the GUN were used as evidence to show that the gun owner was NOT in fear of his life. Everybody has a million theories about "big bad DAs" but in reality they're not going to crucify you for having some after-market modifications. That's like saying that getting custom rims makes you more susceptible to getting a speeding ticket.

All the internet lawyers say no, but common sense will tell you that if you control the trigger better your shot will be placed better. Another words it would be safer for the public in general if you are able/comfortable with your trigger/gun.

Voted yes, but ONLY to a point. For a constant action gun, I don't like going below 4lbs for a carry trigger. Also, I like a certain amount of take up for a carry gun.
