Hearing Protection

What do you use?

For me, I have the ProEars Pro-slim Dimension 2.

But even with them, I still use ear plugs. I find it a bit painful/irritating every time I go to an indoor range, or even outside for that matter without them. I tend to flinch, even blinking as I pull the trigger.

Does anyone else double up with plugs?

EDIT: The option "BOTH" does not imply using one or the other on occasion, but BOTH at the same time for further protection. I always feel weird wearing plugs and then putting electronic muffs over them, but I greatly care for my hearing.

I keep a pack of earplugs in my range bag. These are the foam ones you squeeze and put in your ears. I usually pick them up at Wally World when I am purchasing ammo. Sometimes I will be shooting with friends/family and someone forgets hearing protection or doesn't bring any. The plugs are cheap and handy for those times. I will usually use ear muffs but sometimes I have no room in the range bag so I will leave them at home and just use the plugs. I find that I gravitate to the plugs anyways so I may just stick with them and lose the muffs.

I use some Howard Leight 30db muffs that I bought from Midway USA. I think they work great. I never feel the need to wear plugs with them shooting inside or outside with any of my guns.

I used to use only ear plugs but recently got tired of cramming things inside my ear...so i bought some ear muffs and love them.

I've have always shot with earplugs and have never shot with ear muffs. I have never even thought about using muffs. I might rent a pair and see if I like them next time I go to the range.

I use ear muffs, but keep several sets of the foam plugs in my bag for backup. I recently bought a set of the cheap ($20) electronic ear muffs from Harbor Freight and they surprisingly work great.

I wear ear plugs, mostly because my ear lobes are streatched too big to fit under ear muffs, so I dont get a good seal with them and that makes them useless.

I have these too but a slight annoyance with them is, since they are so wide its hard to get my cheek on a good buttstock position for the AR.

I never thought about that. So far other than my two handguns I have only used them with my 22, although I dont really think you need hearing protection with it. I already had them on from shooting my 357.
