Eotech or Aimpoint?

I know, this has been beaten to death, but I'm looking at opinions. I currently have a Tasco Pro Point red dot sight on my AR. My father-in-law has shown interest in it, so I'm looking at giving it to him, and me upgrading. I'm really torn between the 2. Both have very loyal followings, and are very good products. I'd like to see pics of them mounted on your gun, and possibly through the optic too.

Feel free to give any input you have on either... good or bad. I want to have as much info as I can to make an educated decision.

I think EOTechs are faster, but Aimpoints have longer battery life. I went with EOTech. I really like the 65 MOA circle reticle, it just feels natural and you don't have to search for the dot at all. I got the 511 and love it.

I have the EO 512 and love it. Battery life is a minor issue, AA batteries are cheap. Very easy to gain and maintain a sight picture.

I have 2 EO's and they're great, but if I had to do it again (or for the next rifle), I'd probably go w/ the AP. Lasts longer, a tad lighter, cleaner sight picture & loads of mounting options for any rifle configuration. JM2C.

I recently purchased an Eotech 512 from Botach Tactical. I chose the 512 over the 511 because it takes AA batteries and I figured they would be easier to come by. The Eotech 512 is longer than the 511 for that reason but I figured it didn't make that much difference. Don't know how much longer it will last, but Botach Tactical is offering a free Streamlight TLR-1 with each purchase of an Eotech. The 512 is $399.00 at Botach but the Streamlight is valued at $85.00, so I figured the Eotech came to $315.00. Shipping to Ohio was about $11-12.

So how was the transaction? I was going to get one from them, but I was iffy about spending that much money online. I agree it is a great deal, but my loss I guess. I ended up spending $479 on a 552 cause the place I went was all out if the 512

I own 3 EOtechs and 1 aimpoint setup. I like both, and they have their plus and minuses. The EOtech I like because its easier to see while not obstructing your veiw. I also work for L3 CSW and get a nice employee discount on 1 per calander year. So yeah that helps. I like the aimpoint when magnified since there is less going on. But due to the less going on, unmagnifed its harder to pick up unless turned up high. Which then adds a little red ring around the tube and when held at a slightly differnt angle (like when aiming and walking/ moving across a target) is more noticable at differnt times which cause a slight distraction to me. However the AP battery life is MUCH sweeter than the eotech even if used with the litium batteries it still can not shake a stick to the aimpoint. But the the 5x2 "AA" battery version of the eotech can be found in dam near in anyy small po dunk hardware store in backwoods BFE. And they cost more than the EOtech. I wouldnt mind getting a aimpoint to replace the pistol EO and moving the EOtech to a future PS (or if lucky... a P)90. And the aimpiont mounts can get pretty sweet as mentioned before. Mine
