MAN you guys have been busy! Thanks for all the replies so far. So far, it looks like the Eotech has it, but the Aimpoint definitely has the edge on battery life. My current Tasco is similar in style to an Aimpoint, and I like it, but I think for quicker target acquisition, and larger viewing area, the Eotech seems to have the advantage. Guess I'll see if any other pros or cons show up and make a decision. It's leaning toward Eotech... anyone want to try harder to get me to sway the other way?

Im with you there, I dont need some fancey newfangled sight thing, irons can hit the target fine at 350yards, dont take batterys and will always work, woot for iron sights,

Don't get me wrong, I like my iron sights, but the quicker target acquisition with red dots makes it worth it.

Why do some come in to threads just to put them down. No offence meant but if I see a thread that says vw jetta or a vw rabbit im not going to go in and post i hate vws get a honda or something like that. I agree some people dont use optics and some use nothing but optics. But that does not mean either is rightor wrong. Just for the record, most of the people wih eos cowittness there fore using irons too.

my wife is a right handed shooter with a left eye dominance thing. The only way she can shoot my AR is with both eyes open through a red dot... yet another reason I like the dots... helps my wife "get my back"

I chose Aimpoint. I'm very happy with mine. For me the proof is in how well I can see the dot/reticle. I wear contacts. Even with the contacts, the vision in my right eye is slightly fuzzy. I've found that the dot of the Aimpoint is easier for me to use than the reticle of the Eotech. Try both and see which you prefer.....as many have said, there are pluses and minuses to both. The Aimpoint is just a better fit for me. I also like that I can beat on my Aimpoint and know that it will work again and again.

I prefer Aimpoint. The EoTechs are too blurry/fuzzy to my old eyes.

They are both great, but I prefer the Eotech 512.
