A gun in every room of the house.

After living in a satellite state of the soviet union (new york) for 26 years i find myself still shocked at times that i can own and soon carry a gun.

One of the points my CCW instructor made was that a handgun is really just a good way to buy time to find a bigger gun - esp. when defending the home.

unless an intruder bleeds to death, it can take many rounds to drop them. 2 shots will give you time to bounce and find a bigger gun - like a shot gun. Well, i don't have one - yet.

My wife and i talked and we're really looking to have a fire arm in each room in the house. So i plan on getting a shot gun eventually and of course my AK.

I know with either, there isn't much that can stand a chance. Also, i am not doubting my ability to hit center mass and/or unleash 16 rounds of hell, but this idea gives me the excuse to get more guns. The best part is - they are a tax write off for me because i run my business from my house....

The bathroom is safe, esp. after i eat mexican - so i found my safe room...

I have a son so no the weapons other than the one on me or my wife stay locked in at a minimum of a gun cabinet. When we get settled in back home in Texas a Vault will be bought.

Even if I was single or we didn't have a child I would still keep them all secured. A bunch of guns laying unsecured around the house could just as easily fall into the hand of the intruder you are trying to defend against.

I certainly have enough guns to have >1 per room, but I simply don't want to do that. Certainly you could make an argument that the better prepared a person is, the less likely they are to be a victim. But I draw the line on risk versus preparedness. I'd rather have the risk of not being prepared in every room versus living life with guns set up in every possible hiding spot. I don't knock folks that opt for that level preparedness...it's just not for me.

I think it would be best to just have one on you and the rest locked up. What happens when you come to find someone in your house who has already found the gun you had hidden in whatever room he is in?

Thumbs up Gun's in every room

My wife and I keep a pistol/shotgun in every room in the house because of where we live. When we are going to be gone for extended periods of time, I put them in the gun safe. Usually one of us is always home and I don't worry about burglers because we also have 2 Doberman's in the house with us. It just makes my wife feel better to have access to a gun.
I always carry right up until bedtime then all I have to do is reach over and grab my 45.

I can understand someones viewpoint on not wanting to have a gun in every room and that's their choice, but as for my wife and me, we will keep our arrangement.

I've got 4 boys but have loaded guns in mini-gun vaults in two rooms. My office and bedroom.

I think one in every room is a bit overboard. If you have visitors, they'll probably think you're a conspiracy nut or something, and that the gov't is out to get you...

I keep my XD in the night stand, and sometimes leave the P22 in the living room. If I get any more handguns, and when I get my CPL I'll probably always keep one in my room and one on my person.

I thank God that I have never lived in a place where I thought that it would even be remotely necessary to have a gun hidden in every room of my home.

The one on my hip and the shotgun in the bedroom do just fine. Everything else stays locked in the safes.
