I voted yes but it was on my first yr. run xd9sc... no melonite.. much rust.. sending it back to get refinished

need some help on the xd rust problem

i'm just getting in to shooting and wonder why you would have rust problems on this pistol, i really like the feel of the xd and was just going to purchase the sub compact 9.are the problems, moisture and if so what are the correct things to do to prevent it.

my 2007, 9mm, service has some pitting forming on the top of the barrel..looks like, i may have touched it after oil burned off, and the salt on my finger pitted into the barrel.

i cant live with it....so i think im going to trade it in towards a new Sig P229 DAK.

only rust ive seen is on the finger groove area's of the slide - mostly on the rear area that makes contact with my skin. Its my concealed carry gun, so no supprise, but i may send it back for a re-finish. It is one of the older series guns (first run).

I said no but i have a stainless slide and it is still fairly knew and i always clean it after use at the range then back at home i clean it agian more thouroghly

had my xd-40 for about 6 months carried in the rain concealed and humid weather. nothing yet.
