SW 329 or 629

So we like to go for hikes sometimes. I am debating between a SW 329 which is a really lightweight and therefore really hard to shoot but easy to carry .44 mag and a SW 629 with the 6.5" barrel and power port which is a heavier and therefore enjoyable to shoot and a pain to carry .44 Mag.

Here are the guns:

629 with power port

329

Anyone have either one? Any suggestions?

As long as its legal to carry where you plan to hike so you aren't concerned about hiding the gun, get the heavier gun

The 629. If your planning to hike with it and not have it concealed. With the right holster you should be fine carrying it, especially if your carrying other gear with you. That stuff is all bound to be heavier than a loaded S&W 629. so go with it and you'll be all set and not have to worry about any limited accuracy or enhanced recoil due to short barrel length. Although for all I know the 329 could shoot like a dream, I'd prefer the bigger revolver.

The 329 will be easier to carry and you will probably be carrying it a hole lot more than you will be shooting it. Just my opinion.

Split the difference and get a 629 Mountain Gun or just a plain old 4" 629.
