Absolutely; a magazine failure can and does happen anywhere...
I carry at least one, maybe two if I'm in a coat or the mood strikes me. Two sit better in my back pocket anyways...

I'll go with Verk on this one. I always carry an extra mag in my weak side front pocket. Even tho we can only have 10 round mags, I would do this if I lived in a state that had no restrictions. I would rather have more than I need than not have enough.

The comments from a couple here who say if they need more than one mag then they have more serious problems is exactly right on; you would have more problems and probably will die. You are, of course entitled to your opinion, but I personally believe it is an unwise one. If it doesn't hurt you to carry an extra one, why not just in case.

In my car, I usually have a total of 3 magazines. When I carry, it depends on where I'm going.

This may not make a lot of sense. I keep a spare in the car but no spare when I'm carrying away from the car. I assume all the shouting will be over before I empty the first mag (OK I know what an assumption is)

Yes, I always carry an extra magazine with me. Better to be safe than sorry...

Even when walking the dogs in my neighborhood, I carry my gun and extra ammo...

Two spare mags or speedloaders depending on what handgun I am carrying.

I usually don't have a bag of potato chips with me so no need for an extra clip!

I try not to say "never" or "always." I generally carry at least one reload for my primary. I have carried with no reload and I have carried with four spare mags, plus a BUG and a reload for that. Much depends on where I am going and what I am doing.

If I am just taking my dog out, running to the local grocery or some such thing, I will often just carry my J-frame Smith with one reload. If I am out running errands around town, then its ususally a 1911 or an XD with one spare. If I am going to a bad part of the city for some reason, then the armament goes up in proportion with what time it is, where I am going and what I can conceal.

generally speaking, no. If I'm going somewhere I don't want to be, then yes.
