I let that kind of stuff go at least 2-3 times a day here in So Cal traffic, especially when I consider that I could possibly lose my CCW permit.

Now that you carry, you should consider that if you lose you permit for this kind of stupid traffic confrontation, the day when you really need it will come along, and alas, no CCW weapon on your side, you're possibly dead along with your loved ones!, what you described is a sure way to end up losing it!

If you had any exchange of words, other to say you were sorry, opens you to the legal liability of helping escalate the situation into a physical confrontation possibly leading to a shooting.

Even if the guy had 5 huge friends with him, unless he showed you the opportunity(proximity), ability(armed) & intent(says he's gonna kill you) to harm you or your loved ones, you have no legal right to go to guns. You must be able to prove, without a doubt, all three in a court of law or you lose, period!

As you may have surmised I voted, "should have ignored them in the first place".

Glad everything turned out OK, Good Luck and check your six with regularity..............

Peace,

Yeah, me too, I have followed him a couple of times and every time I give him the horn he waves his gun, so I wave mine back and then we go our separate ways.

Given that I probably would have mumbled something about the driver's resemblance to an anal orifice and let him in, I don't think I would have gotten to that point in the situation, but if I had, the 911 call scenario would have been my first choice.

Gotta let them in, as freaking irritating as it may be. It's just not worth getting eaten up inside over something as trivial as this. I used to be a block 'em, or tailgate 'em if they do something like that, but guess what? Unless you physically beat them to within an inch of their life, they will not learn anything! Are you willing to do that over a minor traffic infraction? If so, you have to think about whether you're really any different from them.

As far as motorcycles doing that, I think they're justified. Bikes are safer when they're moving, rather than inching along waiting to get tagged by the a-hole behind them. That's why lane splitting is legal in some states - it improves the bikers chance for survival.

Here's something goofy I do, and as weird as it sounds, it works more often than not. I imagine a shield over my truck and the vehicle in front of me. Kind of like a forcefield that connects us. So there's really nowhere for someone to cut in. And oddly, it seems to help keep people from forcing in. ALso ducking in behind a semi helps too - people don't want to get stuck behind a semi, and will generally try to get in front of it instead of you.

I would have called 911 first while safe in my car getting my parking slip. If he followed me into the parking area and forced me into any kind of fight then at least I would not be seen as the aggressor.

but i would also have watched him in my mirrors and not gone twards home.

i have had idiots like this before chase me try to run me off the road i realy like it when they jump out of the car to come beat my ass, i wait untill they are a good distnace away from their vehicle and use that as a lead take off and head for a gunshop to hangout in for a while.

We led some dumb assed teenagers to the PD parking lot one time years back. Talk about a funny situation. The cops were changing shifts and there were several officers making their way to their cars, we pulled up and told them these guys were hurling beer bottles at us on such and such road. Meanwhile, the guys in the other car realized as soon as they pulled in that they were in a PD parking lot and tried to turn around at the back of the lot, they got blocked in real quick and we waved goodbye. It was priceless!

Your situation, I would have gone to where I was going as if nothing happened and ignored them. Had wife get out cell phone in case it escaladed and untucked to gain access to firearm if needed.

When you are sitting in the correct lane for an hour and you aren't moving an inch becuase of the morons who pass by in the closing lane every 30 seconds or so, I don't know who wouldn't be pissed off. I would have done exactly as you had for the traffic part. As for parking, I would have continued on my way as if he were not there. You are loosing to his "intimidating the weak" if you leave and pay for not parking. If he wants to start somthing, I doubt it would take much more then lifting your shirt a few inches to stop him in his tracks.

I hate people that zoom by on the lane thats about to end. I NEVER LET THEM IN..I don't give a f*&# who you are and how big your truck is. I waited my 20 minutes, you can do the same. What makes them so special they can just barge on in.

Rest assured, I only leave about a 4-5 foot gap between me and the car ahead of me. I can easily close the distance when some a-holes trying to merge in.

Of course this doesn't apply at merge points like when your entering the interstate.

I woulda just looked over at them, give em a big smile, and wave hello.
