P3AT thoughts for those with them....please...

Ok. I have had a glock 27 now for a little bit... I do like it as I am a glock fan... dont kill me... I am an armorer for glock and think they are great guns... (lets save that fight for another day )... I have a ccw, and have been using the 27 for it. I have been getting annoyed with it, though, because it is not as concealable as other guns. Makes me want another pocket gun. I must, agian visit the p3at. I have had them before, tried to get them to work right, got fed up with it and got rid of it. I have, though read some posts talking about people getting through the rough stages of the gun buy just shooting more rounds... I have read that people shooting over 100 rounds smooths out the gun enough to have a flawless BUG. What is your all's experiance with that? Any luck with the p3ats? I know I havent had much.... Thanks!

I have had maybe two FTF in 300ish rounds.

Sometimes if you ease the slide down gently it doesn't lock up all the way. I have never had this happen but when I let a lady borrow it it happened to her.

Mine has ran great. Not a very fun gun to shoot but I depend on it when I don't feel like lugging the XD around.

I remember reading the earlier generations were made from hex bar and they had lots of troubles but mine has been good. I'm pretty sure the Keltec have lifetime warranties and don't give anyone trouble in repair except maybe in how long it can take.

My experience with mine was the opposite. In the first 10 mags through, I experienced a combo of FTF or FTE approximately 75% of the time. This was on a model with a late serial number which I cleaned very well after the horror of the first mag.

Kel-Tec is supposed to have great warranty service, but I was so pissed, I returned the pistol. Too bad, because that sucker would be great for walking around with board shorts and a t-shirt and all that other summer fun stuff. It was a vicious little bugger to shoot, that's for sure.

My buddy just got one.

Can't find a hollow point that feeds reliably.
Shooting with his weak hand it will have FTE

Probably 400 through the hole.

Thanks guys... I am still thinking about it... I dont know though... I just hate not having a gun I can take everywhere... especially now that its getting warm and I am wearing shorts and tight shirts (so I cant conceal a G27 IWB.) Have any of you had any time with the PF9? any more reliable?

100 rounds of Monarch fmj, 25 rounds Remington Golden Sabre and no problems. After another 100 rounds downrange (hopefully later today) it'll be ready for carry. This is my second, First was sold to a freind and was very reliable.

Forget the Kel-tec and buy the Ruger LCP. Nearly the same gun and from what I hear far more reliable. I had a P3AT and had to send it back to them twice before I could even get a full mag through it without a failure. It didn't stay in my inventory long after that.

I bought mine lightly used (20 rds. through it). Previous owner had no problems. I've put 1 mag of Speer Gold Dot HPs through it, zero failures. I've manually fed 3 mags through, zero hangups (I know... a bad practice, but I wanted to do some tests without spending $1 a round). I have NO reservations about carrying this gun as a BUG or "throw it in my pocket for a short trip" gun. Need a pocket holster, though... carrying that thing in a pocket with the barrell pointed at my leg or the family jewels makes me nervous as all get out.

Hope this helps. There are lots of guys out there who swear by the the Kel Tec and KT's customer service (if you should happen to have a problem). That's why I went with the KT. It seems that we see a lot of posts to the contrary mostly because people like to complain about the failures of the weapon and the company. Just my $.02.

Have not seen or shot the Ruger, but it looks like a 3AT clone. Would wait for more reports on it.

I have shot my 3AT quite a bit, with very few problems. Best carry ammo IMHO is American Eagle FMJ and Corbon DPX. I alternate the two in the magazine when I carry, both feed and eject just fine. The flat nose WWB can have feeding problems along with some big hole hollow points. You need to have a firm grip on all Keltec pistols, no limp wristing or you will have FTEs. The .380 does not penetrate like a 9mm, so many just load FMJ for these guns.

I have a PF9 too, but it is slightly bigger and heavier than the 3AT.
