Most important safety rule, to you
I'm purposely not allowing a "all of the above" answer, because i want to see what each person would choose (even though i also would choose ALL OF THE ABOVE).
thanks in advance! ETA: except "active safeties" - i think passive ones are much more effective, and efficient.

I went with keeping the finger off of the trigger as I am looking at the question in terms of concealed carry. Not pointing the gun at something you are not ready to destroy is also high on the list.
I am not ready to blow a hole in the car seat / bottom of my car. I am not ready to put a .45 ACP round into my leg. The problem is they are both daily possibilities when I carry. If my finger is not on the trigger and the weapon is properly holstered, neither is very likely to happen.

Definitely muzzle control. If the gun is pointed in a safe direction, it can not hurt anyone. $#!% can happen. It's possible for a firearm to discharge regardless of safeties and even without the trigger being pulled. However it's impossible for a firearm to harm anyone if it's pointed safely.

i said muzzle control. dont point at what you dont intend to destroy. while i agree with others i usually just go by
treat never keep keep treat every weapon as if it were loaded neverpoint the weapon at anything you dont intend to shoot keep you finger straight and off the trigger until ready to fire keep the weapon on safe until you are ready to fire. |
