Pointless Poll: Metric or English?
Just because I can, here's the question:
With the world getting smaller and technology overlapping so much, should the U.S. switch to the metric system instead of our traditional English measurements (mile, gallon, inch, etc.)?

Being in the trades, it is all I have ever used. Works fine and dont see a reason to change it. IMO.

Glazed chocolate cake donuts sound really good right about now.

I'm in construction, I use a tape measure for a living. I voted yes we should change to the metric system; it's easier.

I'll just put it this way . . . I cringe when I have to do engineering calculations in English units (slug/ft-s, BTU/hr). Metric is much easier to calculate (units come out a lot nicer).
However, for most things I do on my own I still think in English. Really, I don't have too much of a preference.

I'm sorry but metric pwns.
We make bearings at work and all our orders come in metric... but then we have to convert to english.... so... metric wins. Easier too. |

Either or. I prefer metric kinda since I was a mechanic but miles, gals, feet, etc is just easier for me to remember.
I'm a medical coder and the DRs sometimes will give laceration length in inches but it gets billed out in centimeters so I have to convert to CMs.

I don't care, I just wish we'd pick one an go with it. The current mixture of the two we have in our everyday lives is annoying.

Just to clarify, its Imperial standard, not english. But we knew what you meant.
I think in the long run that we should just switch over and get it over with. The rest of the world uses the metric system. I'm all for world unity.
