If you made me choose only one handgun round it would probably be the 9mm. Plentiful, fairly cheap, lots of loads for it, fairly low recoil, high capacity. I'm sure there are other attributes that I'm forgetting.

i agree, ive shot some 357 and some 45 pistols and living in Canada with the ammo prices the way they are its more economical to love the 9mil. granted the .22 is cheaper but i like a boom when i go shooting. lol

it's all preference. I like .40 because it is a "potent" round without the kick that the .45 has. It also depends on the gun your firing it through. Imagine firing .45 in subcompact?

its to my understanding...and i may be wrong....but the 10mm was developed when they were looking for that perfect balance between a 9 and 45. they were unhappy with it and later developed the .40. which was considered a better round. i didnt even think about it.
i cant remember where i read this..but i thought that it was like the FBI or somethin doing the developing...if there is a shred of truth to this cool...if its not real then i guess you just cant trust what you read on the internet. either way i love the .40 its my favorite...federal has charts out(i cant find it right now) of foot pounds of pressure at certain distances and velocity and knockdown power and drop between all handgun calibers at like 25 50 and 75 yards...and the .40 by far is the superior round. you can just see soooooo many of the .40 benefits. i love it |

Gotta 2 year old son sorry.
Pretty much any handgun round is a matter of personal preference.
