I like single but I also think that Glocks and M&Ps have great triggers as well when tuned properly. The 1911 is the kind of single action but if and when the XD10mm comes out I will be getting one in order to make a Limited Division gun out of it.

I voted double/single action, but it depends on the pistol. Larger framed guns I like single action, smaller guns 9like the Makarov and Walther) I like the double action 'option'.

I like all depending on the model. I've fired some pretty horrendous double-action only pistols and some smooth-as-glass DAO pistols too. I love DA/SA full sized pistols (Sig 226, Beretta 92/96, etc) generally. For the most part, the DA pull on the first shot on these models is very smooth and clean, followed by excellent SA trigger pulls. As far as SA only... well... it's no competition. From the factory, it's generally the sweetest trigger pull possible.

I voted single action. One "requirement" of mine when choosing a first pistol was consistent trigger pull. Although the XD doesn't fall into that category, I decided on it instead of a 1911 for CCW. Out of the box 1911 triggers feel amazing, I can't even imagine what a worked one would feel like.

It really doesn't matter to me I shoot most stystems well enough to qualify with. I've qualified 100% for the last 4 years with a DAO Beretta 92D, My summer carry pistol is a Kahr K40 and my winter carry is a tuned 1911. Shooting the DAO pistols will improve your shooting with all other systems because you have to concentrate harder on the sight picture.
