Are you kidding me?!?! They own a GUN STORE... What the HELL are they afraid of?!?!?!?

I go into places all the time that don't allow guns. I don't care. They don't need to know that I'm carrying a firearm, and when they do finally figure it out and ask me to take it off, I merely shrug and say "It's perfectly legal. call the cops." They never do.

I can't imagine a gun store not allowing you to carry inside, but if there were, I'd laugh at them and go somewhere else.

I personally have never ran across this problem...
But I wouldn't give them my business at all or any place for that matter that didn't want me carrying my gun.

My theory on the reasoning behind a gun store not wanting people to carry legally in two words.

I know probably not worth your time, but I'd be curious as to the mgmt's reason.

Lame.
probably not comfortable with the unpredictable nature of what the scene could look like should several gun toters be in the same place at the same time and some bozo walks in and decides to do something stupid, like say, "here's my gun and look, it actually works," as he starts pulling the trigger. the owner is probably scared of getting caught in the cross-fire.

Then the owner is a liberal scumbag who is totally in the wrong kind of business and needs to go work for McDonalds.

How many stories do we hear about accidental shootings, armed robberies, and mass murders in GUN STORES?!? Seriously people, let's get real here, please.

Although I don't frequent them, I will check one out every know and then that posts. It's their property and business.

Anyone who says they don't support businesses that don't let you carry, must never go to the post office, or pay their taxes. There's a lot of places we can't carry yet still financially support.

Just as it's your right to decide where you'll spend your money, it's their right to run their business the way they see fit.

I do not visit Gun Stores that do not allow guns. I do believe that it is every business owners right to decide on that issue and if that costs him money because of his decision, so be it.

I am a little perplexed that they would discourage a person from carrying for any reason but I support their right to run their business according to their ideas and beliefs.

Umm, I don't need to go to the post office OR the IRS (who the hell pays their taxes IN PERSON at the IRS?) That's what the mailbox in front of your house is for. If I need something metered, certified, registered, etc. I got to the UPS store.

No, I'm sorry, but I will not visit a place where it is illegal to bring a firearm. Even if I have to go to traffic court, I'll pack heat. When I get to the metal detectors, I show my LTC and they show me the gun lockers, and sign me in.

And I'm sorry, but they do NOT have the right to override a state law because of their own preference. It is NOT the same thing as being invited to someone's home. It may very well be privately owned, but the public has a right of way there, so in essence, they're discriminating against someone based on that person's LEGAL RIGHT.

As for retail stores and what not, I ignore the sign. I dare them to accuse me of being armed and prove it. They have no right to Xray me or anything, and they don't even have the right to approach me and ask if I'm armed. Just because it's private property doesn't mean they can violate me. And god help them if they even THINK of putting their hands on me... (lawsuit)

Not for nothing, but it's really the general attitude like yours that's dangerous. If we're legal in our right to walk the streets with a gun, then we're no more of a danger in a store than anywhere else.

There was a time when blacks weren't allowed in certain stores and women weren't allowed to vote, and people like YOU said "Well, it's the right of a business to not allow blacks into their store..." No, it's not. It's called discrimination and it's disgusting.

You're a member of this board, why? Do you own guns? Are you pro-2A? Do you carry? Umm, do you REALLY see a problem with honest, decent, law-abiding citizens carrying a firearm?? Do you REALLY see them as a danger??

Criminals won't pay attention to posted "No guns" signs, so why should we? It's not an issue of what the business owner's rights are... if they're so afraid of honest, trained, lawful citizens, then they shouldn't own a damn business. They should stay in their little glass cage where they're nice and safe.

OK so let's say you willingly (and stupidly... like the sheeple that you promote) leave your gun at home to go to the XYZ store that has a posted "No guns" sign, because you're a good little doobie and you follow the rules. So you're shopping, and suddenly an armed maniac walks in and opens fire at random people. He turns to face you. He lines up on you. As you sit there, curled up on the floor in the fetal position, saying your final prayers and whispering tearful goodbyes to loved ones that will never hear them, one final thought goes through your mind: "I'm going to die because of a little sign taped to a window..."

If you're comfortable with that, god bless you (and help you). Sorry, but I'm not. And if you own a store and put such a sign in that window, and you see me walk in, you won't see a gun, and if you ask I'll tell you I don't have one (and good luck proving otherwise), but you can bet your ass I'll be armed to the teeth... and if that maniac DOES happen to walk in while I'm there, you can thank me later... while you're taking your ridiculous, pointless, stupid sign down.

I don't think anyone has EVER questions the businesses right to post. We are agree they are idiots, and agree that in America, you have the right to be one. In regard to the post office and taxes, well...that's just a silly comparison.

I voted no, I do not go out of my way to not support a business, I try, but do not go out of my way. I also do not go out of my way to tell the business my feeling, most of them will have no clue what i am talking about any way, they have no clue why they put the sign on the door anyway.

But I never thought about a gun store not allowing guns. That's kinda like saying you can buy gas here, but have to push your car onto the lot to get it. I have to say, if I saw a gun store posting, I would have to go out of my way to tell the owner that I have no intention of spending money in his store, he will get the point.
