Training Poll
So what kind of defensive firearms training do you have? If you have been to a school (Thunder Ranch, Gunsite, etc.) how was it? You may choose more than one option if that applies.
I should have stated, by "major school" I mean Gunsite and the like. By local I mean some kind of regional class at a local range.

I've done quite a bit of "homeschooling" myself so I know how valuable it can be with the right teacher, but I'm looking for formal training in this poll.

I've been to a couple of local 1-day classes (NRA Basic Pistol) which were OK. Front Sight, outside of Las Vegas, has some great training. I attended a 2-day Defensive handgun last year and will be going back for the 4-day Defensive handgun course in a couple of months.

While I would not call the USAF M-16 Qual course "training" I will say that I have a perfect score and the target to prove it.
I have also had CCW, Defensive Pistol Level 1, and Tactical Carbine Level 1 from Alaska Tactical and Security. The ONLY school worth going to in AK.

Private training at a reputable school or with a reputable trainer (Gabe Suarez, Southnarc, Paul Gomez, Larry Vickers, whomever) far outwieghs training from the "law enforcement community", and especially the m-9 training you might get as a line infantryman in your company or an MP. Maybe if you had been through OTC or SOFAERTEC or something, that might equal/surpass civilian training.
I've trained with LEOs, been to military schools, and done private stuff. The private stuff wins hands-down. That's just my opinion.
