Just yesterday my wife and I had a semi-spat over this same thing. Particularly, on how much time I spend gathering info on my gun (XD40SC). Someone already said it...I too am hooked. Also, I will occasionally get all 5 of my mags out, all loaded with 155g Winchester Rangers, and line them up on the coffee table and just look at them. I buy ammo every time we go to Walmart. I study ballistics charts, rather than watch ballgames. I find myself ignoring my friends, and pinning down police captain-friends (30+ years vets) and discussing tactical strategies. (I'm pretty sure there a NCIS report being passed around on me now!)

She says it gives her the creeps. I say knowledge is power.

And power is advantage. And advantage means that when chips fall and the excrement strikes the proverbial spin-forced air-thrusting component...

+1 Advantage, me.

-1 police outline chalk model.

OK, maybe I'm creeping myself out! I never used to talk this way.

XDTalk...gotta have it. It's legal, morally correct, and ethically sound.

Like me.

Guns are my number one hobby.

I am in a position where I can check XDTALK ALL day, EVERY day. Also, I work with a ton of gun guys, who have some nice collections, and they are great guys. So, we talk guns constantly.

I have some of the best maintained guns that you can get. I am always cleaning them for something to do.

I have a wife and kids, but they know the routine. My kids enjoy the hobby with me. Wife is indifferent. She likes to shoot, but doesn't get crazy about the rest of it.

Shooting and cleaning...
NRA-IL...
Podcats (Gun Talk, Gun Rights Advocate, Urban Shooter, etc)...
On-line discussions (including XD talk)....
Magazines.....
Books....

....easily works out to average 3 or more hours a day. I think we are going to need our own 12 Step program.

I spend ALOT of time on guns and have even before the internet. I shoot quite a bit, although I have slowed down some in the past couple of years. I also reload, hunt deer, small game, birds, varmints and predators. Im a member of a private range/club and also an elected trustee of the same club, as well as a commitee member for range improvements. My weekends are spent hunting, reading about guns, amateur gunsmithing/refinishing, spending time with the family and doing work parties at the range for improvements.
