Question Which night sights: Heinie or XS Big Dot?

Help!

I need your advice / help.

I am debating between getting two different sights that cost the same to get installed ($105.00) by Springfield Armory - see their custom shop prices for installation. The sights are for my Springfield XD .45 ACP auto.

I have to confess I don't like 3 dot sights. I know a lot of people do like them, a lot of them are made, and folks do great with them. My first duty auto was a Sig 226 with the two dot and that's where I learned and got used to two dots. When I shoot three dot sighted guns I feel like I am playing connect the dots.

So which one to get:

Heinie Straight 8 Slant Pro tritium night sights (1 green dot rear, 1 green dot front) $105.00 installed by / at Springfield Armory Custom Shop
Heinie Specialty Products

OR

XS Big Dot tritium night sights (Vertical line rear, big dot front) $105.00 installed by Springfield Armory Custom Shop
XS Sight Systems - Handgun Sights - 24/7 Express

Anyone have either one or any experience with either one?

Your help is needed and appreciated!

I have the big dot.

Fast sight picture, good for close up shooting. If you will be shooting targets at more than 15-20 yards, get something else. but I love the big dot for a combat/ plate shooting sight.

Those are fine looking sights. However, I prefer / function better with 2 dot sights not three.

I also like that Springfield sells either either the Heinie or XS Big Dot (with installation) for $105.00

How do the TFOs hold up to duty use / holster wear?

I just ordered a set of PT night sights. They are similar to Trijicon. Would you ever consider a set like Trijicons?

I don't have experience with PT night sights.

Lots of guys use Trijicons. They have a great track record - very effective and very proven.

My hang up is my preference.

I do better with 2 dots than 3. By better I mean faster time with accurate shots on target. That has to do with being a dog who was trained on the Sig 2 dot set up and have now graduated to the XD.

With 3 dots I am trying to think horizontally and playing connect the three dots while trying to find the target. With 2 dots I think vertically and it is a matter of lining up one dot upon another with the target on top.

I don't know if I am saying it right, but 2 dots are what works best for me.

I have XS Big Dots on my CZ 2075 RAMI and really like them. I also know that quite a lot of Dallas Police Officers use them. On the other hand, several of the shooting intructors with the local PD here really like Heinie Straight Eights.

Fair enough.

What do you like about having XS Big dots on your CZ?

What have the local PD instructors said about liking the Heinie Straight Eights?

Any help is appreciated.

I understand what you are saying. After looking closely at the Big Dot sights I can see how that would be real simple and quick doing close range shooting (where most pistol shooting is going to be taking place anyway) I may have to consider them if/when the PT sights stop glowing.

I mainly suggested them becuase my dad has a set of the "3 Bar Enhanced" PT night sights on his G17 that he passed down to me. They are pretty quick to pick up and the "ladder" setup on the back pretty much makes it so you can't confuse the front and rear in low/no light.

The ones I bought for the XD are Blue rear and Green front. But they are just 3 dot not the 3bar enhanced.

Why something else for further away? I know it is probably obvious, but I don't have either, so I don't know.
