I'm glad I'm not the only one! Sometimes it's fun when shooting with friends, shoot half a magazine left handed then switch and finish off right handed. Oh yeah, I keep both eyes open, always.

What I do that my friends find cool and slightly annoying is switch hands in the middle of an action shoot; we've got huge gulleys that make for a 360* backstop; we'll set up bowling pins in there and "hunt" them down. I switch hands depending on how the terrain is so I can keep my cover.

Also, playing paintball, I'll switch hands becase cover actually is important then. One of my friends was talking later about how great of an idea that was. I do it mostly for show, but it is a good skill to have in the real world, I think.

I am right handed and I am right handed and always have been. Cant do a whole lot with my left but I am left eye dominant. It was a while before I figured this out, I just can not shoot as accurately with both eyes open. I have been working on shooting with my left hand. Want to be ambidextrous in my shooting.

both side... but only for two trips to the range. It suddenly accured to me both eyes open was probably a better idea. After asking around I got the "duh" so I started I better learn it before I get used to the one I thing anymore. Second trip was a lot easier but I think its going to take a few trips to fully get it down.

Both eyes open with a shotgun, one eye closed with a rifle and pistol.

for me it depends on what sight picture i want.

there are 3 distinct sight pictures

1. about 7yrds and closer - target is in complete focus and sights are superimposed on the target (sights will be slightly blurry)

2. about 10yrds - target is in focus with the sights superimposed on the target but you are more aware of the sights and track them closer (this one is hard to explain, you just have to experience it.)

3. about 15yrds and further - focus is completely on the front sight, target is blurry

of course you can never go wrong with just focusing on your front sight the entire time.

ok, now... do i keep both eyes open or not?

when shooting from 10 yrds and closer both of my eyes are open.

when shooting anything farther than 10yrds i close one eye.
