Why would you memorize? Why not just write it down and keep it some where safe?

For what possible reason would I want to memorize my XD serial number?? I can just look at it anytime I want. I carry it everywhere I go.

No, and why do I need to memorized it? The answer must be simply but I can't come up with a reason.

Heck, even if it's stolen I'm NOT required to have it memorized just that I can get it to the police LATER.

I had to memorize the ones issued to me on the dept. under penalty of running laps and writing memos while in the academy, but I don't remember them anymore and I bought both of them.

No.

I have to ask: WHY would you feel the need to memorize it/them?

Sure, I have my ssn memorized, and my phone number, and a few other phone numbers....

but serial numbers to anything? WHY???

I don't even have my driver's license number memorized, or any credit cards, or bank accounts!

My brain already swims w/ too much crap inside it. I don't need more numbers that don't NEED to be in there....

I have two XD's. I can recite one's serial # from memory but the other, I can't.
