I voted for number one, but if i could have i would have voted for 1,2 and 3. I think it is possible they will all come at once, or close behind each other.
How about a choice for "mass gun confiscations?" That will be right before tyranny, or right after. They go hand in hand. You can't oppress and tryranize a country of armed citizens very easily. They are making a good effort of it right now though.

SHTF could happen due any number of reasons or combination of reasons. A natural disaster like Katrina, which included inproper actions of the government that left citizens unarmed and unable to protect themselves. Bird flu, super bug, ...any natural health crisis. Terrorists strike that disrupts the local infrastructure.

If that's the case, I would say it's never going to happen as long as the .gov has military, police, and when all else fails, mercenaries while the civilians only have pistols, bolt/black powder guns, and at best, semi auto rifles....

I think that would all depend on how quickly Joe Citizen realized what was going on, and how quickly and to what extent citizens could become organized. The armed forces and mercenaries are no match for American Citizens numbers wise, so all citizens would have to do is be more organized than the former.

ETA: I think (desperately hope) that a lot of our men and women in uniform would tell their commanding officer to kick rocks in a situation this obvious. I'd take a court-martial or a bullet in the head before I'd go after U.S. citizens who were only trying to defend their basic rights.

I voted for number three, Government Tyranny. Without this, the Federal Reserve, a private institution, would not have the ability to create money that is not backed by something. Also along the same lines, World War III, will need to be financed by someone. The same bankers that own the Federal Reserve will most likely finance the war. And as far as the dollar being worth nothing, you'll have to find something to barter with.

hey, my rifle would kick any standard deployment of USMC marines(which I am a member of) your missing the fundemental thing about it. Its killing thats easy, its living thats difficult. I could take a shot, maybe two then die, but I swear at least the first one would be lethal. So 330 million people in the US, to survive would take 1 million guys with 1 bullet and 1 very accurate bolt action rifle... we don't have that many good people anymore... maybe we do its only .3 of a percent.

Personally I think it will happen in this order while the dollar is crashing they will try to take guns, the dollar will finish crashing, they will seize all the offshore money they can, seize up large cash reserves of groups and wealthy people, take the gold out of the banks (remember the 30s) then they will waste all the money, two years later, we'll get attacked. The only question I have is, will we be so short on guns someone actually will attempt a ground invasion. Just in Ruger and Remington bolt actions we have more sniper rifles than any military in the world, it would be suicide now, even if our military didn't fight. However once the dollar shatters and they take the guns... who knows. (this is assuming we don't revolt I don't think we have enough men in America to do it)

I want to see something like Stephen King's THE STAND...of course I want to be one of the VERY few that survive the initial crash. And I am 99.9% certain that none of the supernatural bullsh**t will happen.
