Would you buy an XD10?

If Springfield Armory offered an XD10 (10mm) would you buy one?

No

Even tho I have 2 of the XD45C's and a XD9SC, I like the GLOCK better.
My 10mm is a G29

I've never had a hankering for that cartridge. The .45 ACP has enough punch for me.

Question Isn't 10mm the same as .40 CAL S&W

Maybe I'm misunderstanding something, but isn't .40 S&W the same or very similar to 10mm? I kinda though 10mm was "old tecnology".

If that's true why would SA make another model just to have the 10mm round? I understand that 10mm has different ballistics, yet from what looking I did they don't seem to be significant enough to have a .45 ACP and a 10mm as opposed to a .45 ACP and a .40 S&W. I seem to remember that the 10mm has been around for awhile, but there had to have a been a reason to change to the .40 S&W from 10mm, unless it was similar to the change from BETA to VHS; Marketing and getting "the sheep" over to one as opposed to the other and then everyone gearing for "the favorite".

Help me out here if you can.

The .40 S&W is a shortened version of the 10mm. Law enforcement found it a little much for defensive use for everyday cops.
It is supposedly a good hunting round though.

40S&W SAAMI Max pressure of 35,000psi

10mm Auto SAAMI Maz pressure of 37,500psi.

I would by a 10mm XD only if I could get a 40S&W conversion barrel for it and if the magazine were build the proper width unlike the existing XD-40 Magazine that are two narrow for a true double stack. If these two thing are done the XD would become a viable USPSA Limited gun.

I own one other 10mm, a S&W 610 revolver, and I have only about 300rds of 10mm thought it and many thousands of rounds of 40S&W through it. 10mm is a great cartridge that never manage to find a home. Not stout enough to compete with the 44mag as a hunting round (41Rem suffers a similar fate) and to much power/recoil for many people to use in law enforcement and personal protection.

Thumbs up Thanks Guys.

I've only just recently learned that local LEO were carrying the .40 and evidently had been for awhile, but remember (from about 10 years ago) when they were carrying the 10mm, or in some cases they were allowed to carry a 1911 if they chose. California just replaced one model for the CHP with another, both Glocks. A friend bought his old carry piece as a personal carry, mostly for sentimental reasons; it was his issue weapon right out of the academy so it was like an old friend. I suspect he got a sweet deal on the purchase too. When I mentioned to him that I had the XDs he expressed his pleasure in my decision.

When I bought my XD SC I was looking for something a little smaller than my .45 Compact CC but with the same general characteristics: grip, trigger, take-down and safety functions. Didn't want to have to "re-learn" a second carry guns idiosyncrasies, even though I was pointed toward a S&W polymer with "adjustable grips".

If SA had made a .45 SC I'd probably have gone there instead so as not to have to manage yet another caliber ammo.
