Best if you would try both of them. They are both superb 9mm's....both high capacity. The XD holds 17+1 and the CZ SP-01 holds 19 +1. It is heavier than the XD because it has a steel frame. The CZ has rubber grips and great sights, and it is a fine target and defense gun, but a little heavy for CCW. The CZ SP-01 is another improvement over the original CZ 75, which, in itself, is a great gun. The XD-9 is light, compact, and rugged, as well. You won't find many negative things said about either one. Remember, this is an XD forum and most guys don't have a clue about a CZ or SP-O1, but will vote anyway. I would suggest that you ask about the SP-01 over at czshooters.com if you are interested in it. As I said, the XD-9 is a fine weapon, and I would never sell mine, nor would I sell my CZ's.

Get both, you forgot to ask what you wanted to use it for.

You didn't suggest in your post that this was going to be your purchase, so I will give you my opinion as to what I would buy.
High capacity isn't my priority, rather I opt for balance and handling. With this in mind, I would get a Browning Hi-Power, as this would meet or exceed my expectations for a great 9mm semi-auto. One can never go wrong with a John Browning classic.

I have a P-01 and a couple XD's. Tough choice if you are looking at the XD9 Service. I really like my CZ.
If I had to choose on accuracy I think the CZ has a slight edge.

I just bought a CZ75 for the wife , while it isnt as well finished as the Commie 75 I had in the 80's it is still one hell of a pistol. But I would be hard pressed to chose between the 2. The main selling point for the wife was the external safety on the CZ and it is her gun so.

CZ definitly .I have a CZ-75B and a CZ-83 . Geat gun for the money. I had a XD but couldnt get the grip safety to engage half the time with the web of my hand. I figured that was dangerous, so i sold it .

I had that problem at first with my XD 45 because I was too anxious to shoot it, but I cleaned it good and sprayed it with light oil and wiped it good. It's been a different gun...no problems whatsoever.
