.45ACP If you are planning to carry.....9mm for target and home defense use. Only use hollowpoint 9mm for the home defense load.

I think you need to make your request more specific.

I've heard from a short barreled pistol that the .45 is only effective as a 9mm...

True or False?

Kind of a vague poll question.

If you're wanting to know which round shoots better through an XD9...I'd have to vote for 9mm.

You cannot legislate morality, and banning inanimate objects will never substitute for personal responsibility. Banning and limiting things merely makes them profitable to criminals via laws of supply and demand.

Well, if you're talking penetration...wouldn't you think the bigger wound channel would be more effective in accomplishing your goal ?

Hummer or BMW? Cruise ship or yacht? Four wheeler or dirt bike? Hammer or screw driver?

You're asking a pretty silly question without knowing what the use is. Both are tools that do different things.

With that said, 9mm may expand, but .45 ain't gettin' any smaller.

scroll down to the Conclusion

In my opinion, it doesn't make much difference whether you select a 9mm, .40 caliber, a .357 caliber, or a .45 caliber as long a you use the proper ammunition. Any weapon of these calibers is adequate for law enforcement use. My advice is to select a weapon that you can fire most accurately given the different size, weights, and recoil of each weapon.
