They've run their course. They are more of a hinderance than anything else in today's common vocational arena.

As someone who had their life threatened by a union member, I have no use for them.
FYI - I was about 8 years old at the time. My father was a manager working for a well known company during a strike. The thug called him at the office and told him he would find my head (and my Mom's) floating in the bathtub when he got home.

With marketable skills past experience, I can't imagine why I would need a union to help me get the compensation I deserve.

89,955,321 donated to the democratic party in 2002 when "all" donations were able to be counted . $57,645,938 in 2006 when soft money contributions could not. |

Their cost (in all respects, not just dues) is not near what they are worth.

They are more corrupt than our own government which is REALLY saying something.

Not all of them....who has your back if you lose your job to immigrant labor?? Who guarantees you top pay after you complete a training course?? Who helps off set the high insurance rates?? Who guarantees that when the company profits, so do you?? Don't shun all of the labor unions, just the ones up north.....

My Great Grandfather helped form the miners union early last century. Before that, the mines were deathtraps and miners worked for next to nothing.
It was a necessity then (collective bargaining to ensure safe working conditions and a fair wage). With the advent of OSHA, the minimum wage, and the natural progression of capatilism, unions are no longer needed and simply make it difficult to get rid of incompetent employees and force businesses to outsource and ship jobs to union-free countries to stay competitive. JMO and worth exactly whatcha' paid fer it...
