Which color tritiums? (Trijicons for 870)

This link may give you a better picture of the different options. Trijicon RE04 Remington Front & Ghost Ring Rear Night Sight Set for Remington Shotguns 870,1100 & 1187 w/ FREE UPS

This may play a part in a decision as well..

Green lamps are warranted for 12 years from the date of manufacture.

Trijicon offers a choice of illuminated dot colors, to suit
individual shooter preferences. Trijicon Night Sights are available
with green, yellow, and orange aiming dots. The front sight is only
available with a standard illuminated green dot.

Trijicon recommends green dots because they are the brightest
lamps.
They are best for targets in low- and no-light shooting conditions.

However, because some shooters prefer greater distinction between
their front and rear sights, Trijicon also offers yellow and orange
dots for rear sights. Trijicon recommends yellow over orange for
the
rear dots because yellow is brighter, lasts longer, and therefore
carries a longer warranty.

Although I have no issue with green/green I did a lot of research and it has been stated on mfg web sites that the yellow is the next brightest after green and has a 10 year half life or something like that.

Some people like to have the front sight more distinctive so there is less chance of misaligning the dots in the dark. Also since the rear sight is closer, perhaps the lower brightness of the yellow (minimal I hear) may compensate for the longer distance to the front sight making all three appear to be similar in brightness . . .

Yea but trijicon may be just talking "up" about green and yellow because they have a longer life, they may not want you to choose orange because then they will have to replace them more frequesntly... So trijicon may be just trying to save some money and grief in the long run but in all reality orange is the best.. Maybe..... But then again if it were a problem they would just dicontinue the orange.. I dont know..

To me Orange rears and a green front would seem to have the best match up and distinction.

I personally think that after 5-6 years I may be looking an new sights anyway but you may be right. I want brightness in a night sight so when they are half as bright I assume I may bready for a new set. Never been there yet though so that is assumption. What I have seen is the warranty period is less for non-greens in many cases.

PT sights however, state lifetime which surprises me.
