bush ran as a 'conservative' and we know how that turned out, i think he'll be about as status quo as can be.

not to mention he didn't even participate in the debates thusfar (not running), and i haven't seen hardly anything concerning his views as stated by him, and i have already seen lots of posts about his 'maybe' voting record. maybe this way, maybe that... pro second on some issues, anti-2nd on others...

i just can't get behind him.

ETA: in other news, judge posts his signature line...

While there are certain aspects of Thompson I like, I still see him as a Washington insider and lobbyist with no new ideas.

One pollster's take on Fred Thompson:

Quote:
Fred Thompson: He has finally announced and has received a bounce in the polls.

Pros: he has an impressive resume, comes from a good state, and is very tall (see John Kerry). He also has some leading Bush consultants working for him.

Cons: be careful of the Ronald Reagan comparisons (like all of those "Kennedy-esque" wannabes over the years, you lose when you try to compare yourself with an icon). He has a very dull campaign speech, has given little thought to a platform for running (he says he is "for small government." What Republican ever runs on a Big Government platform?) He has fallen short on fundraising. He has sold the sizzle well so far, but watch for the "Freddie Fizzle."

No - I'd expect more of the same old crap, as others have already said

Seems like a sound evaluation!

"open borders" Just as it reads. He is in favor of the Security and Prosperity Partnership plan www.spp.gov for starters. He supported mccain original amnesty plan and still does (even mccain backed away from that)... he is against a fence or more border patrol agents....

Nothing personal but I've never seen a group of supporters (thompsons) more ignorant of their candidates positions in my life.

You people really need to watch the speeches and commentary this makes.

I have not read anything on Fred being for the Security and Prosperity Partnership plan. I have not read anything about Fred being pro-amnesty.
Where are you getting you're info?
