Whats everyones thought on XDTALK.com

Ok well.. i set this up as a "poll" thread, but i really dont care if you submit a vote or not, i just want to get to some people. i want to hear some peoples opinions on some stuff... vote if you want, but your comments would be much more appreciated. Please not flaming, i just want your all's opinions.

so i have only been on XDTALK.com for a few months now, and started actually the day i ordered my gun, i was like sweet a place where i we can all just kick back and chill... i was on hipointforum.com but they all seemed really cheesy and AR15.com but they all seem really stuck up. xdtalk.com seemed right in the middle good old guys and gals just havin fun. i was addicted, two three four posts a day, checking it at work and all this. the last few weeks i have been very disappointed though... more and more am i reading topics that start off innocent enough and then one person starts fighting with another, then its an all out post down the drain. all it is anymore is just people saying ignorant ****... the last 6 or 7 posts i have read have just been bullcrap. i start reading them and before the first page is over something has started. does anyone else see this? i try to jump in the post and add a little comic relief, but its like.. c'mon. why are we here? you dont join a gym to call everyone else fat, or go to the bar to call everyone else drunks, or go on a gun forum to make fun of other gun members.

we need to get our act together...

anyone get where im going with this??

This is a good forum as with everything it has it's ups and downs. The way I see it you stick a bunch of passionate people (mostly men) in one room someone is going to eventually get pissed off ,pissed on, kicked and spit on, but as long as we choose to be here and smile and shake virtual hands it is all in good fun, and thanks to this site and all of it's members for a great and fun place to learn about one of my passions.

OK, I've been here a looooonnnnnngggg time!
I can tell you we have had our ups and our downs, but one thing has remained 'relatively' common throughout these past six years...many good people with the same interests and lots of great interaction.

I was member number 506 and back in the day, it was a very cordial place. It still is in some ways. I agree with you that from time to time there are a number of threads that take a nose dive pretty quick...I just watch for those that start to dump and stop checking back on them.

I think there is some correlation with the full moon or something, because things will be singing along with no problems, then BOOM, out of no where, folks start freaking out on each other.

Ultimately, we are not like many boards out there, especially arf.com and some others where they seem to lay in wait for the newbie to come along and ask a question so they can expound about how knowledgeable or experienced, etc, they are. A bunch of premidona asshats if you ask me...that is why I stick with XDTALK.COM! This place rocks! We have our pimples and warts like anywhere else, but we are more friendly toward them than anywhere else on the net that I know of. (one only needs to visit the group of friends that have developed in the never ending thread to know exactly what I am talking about...there has never been a fight there to my knowledge)

...and that's all I'm gonna say about that...

To paraphrase Sig, where else can you go to discuss ammo that will crush bone and leave the biggest wound channel, and then figure out why your cheese dip doesn't stay melted?

People here will talk about home remodel stuff, car stuff, a little computer stuff (but I think most people here do that for a living, so we tend to not go there), and of course self protection and reloading. It's usually the political stuff that causes the biggest problems.

I don't see people making fun of stupid "newbie" questions here, they just answer them and move on. There have been a few threads about gun shops these days, and how the employees there look down on anybody that's new, making them not feel welcome. Personally, I'd rather ask a question here than at any local gun shop.

My $0.02 YMMV, etc.

I've been around here several years myself. I don't 'XD' much anymore but I keep coming back...got a few friends here. I have learned to live with the crazy diversity of topics discussed. It adds something you can't find anywhere else, and offers an insight into the members themselves.

There's always gonna be a few who get irate faster than others, and the best medicine for them is a good example. All we can do is try. For the occasional 14-karat horse's ass, there's always the ignore button. I belong to another gun forum that uses that feature and I have over 50 people on that ignore list. In this forum, I could count the times I've used it on the fingers of one hand. That says something for the membership and the atmosphere here.

Of couse I don't use crayon on my guns, or stick my left thumb way out in front of my strong hand when I shoot. Big deal. Why argue about it? If I see something that I feel important enough to disagree openly on it, I can (almost always) do that without making a personal battle out of it.

Life's too short to sweat the small stuff, and it's way too easy to ignore anyhow.

I think sometimes perception has to do with it. We might seem like we're pissing on each other, but in reality, some people are just getting their strong opinions out and it's not personal at all.

I have seen it evolve a bit and seen some come and go in my time here, but overall, it's the best forum I have been a member of and the one I usually take a look at everyday.

Sure, there are some threads and attitudes that may get ridiculous or out of hand at times, but such is life.
