Being an SC probably means you're going to carry it. It being a carry gun, you should want SS for the slide, less likely to rust (yes, SS rusts. Bleach will rust it as will other metals with dilectric differences ie. aluminum)

The SS will be less corrossive against your body and the acidity of your sweat.

Get the Stainless or matte chrome your slide.

Well, since I bought a 45 Service in bi-tone, I guess I would have to vote for that.

Both guns are going to shoot the same - it all comes down to what you want. We can't make or validate that decision for you.

I don't understand why people ask these types of questions. It has nothing to do with the functioning of the weapon. It purely is personal preference. Why would someone elses prefrerence determine what you like?

Because it's fun and informative?!

I asked the question because I really was in a tossup between the two. I liked them both and wanted some thoughts from other. I would have never considered the idea that the stainless could flash if hit with a light at night (reflect?). I also would not have thought about the stainless being easier to see while concealed if you accidentally expose yourself briefly.

However, that being said, I DID buy the stainless because I am rough on guns and my XD Service already has a little scratch in the slide and it's only 2 months old!

I appreciate all of the help guys/gals!

Because sometimes there are issues other than personal taste that you may not be aware of. When I first got into XDs I didn't know the bitone finish was more durable than the blued. I thought it was purely a color issue. By asking a forum, you learn a lot. There are also resale value concerns. Someone might be torn between the olive/blued and the black/bitone. Asking a forum will tell you that the bitone is much more popular than the olive and will most likely sell quicker if the owner decides to sell.
