Would you smoke marijuana if it were legal?

I was listening to talk radio yesterday and the host had on a guest who wrote a children's book about marijuana.

He made an important point. He said, I know many people who would smoke marijuana if it were legal. The guest disagreed with him.

Since we're talking about illegal activity, please don't tell me that you smoke marijuana (please stay anonymous) but I'll welcome others to tell me why or why wouldn't you smoke marijuana if it were legal.

Marajuana slows you down. What good is carrying a weapon if you're not completely alert?

Cigaretts are legal I don't smoke them. I don't drink often at all (maybe a beer here or there). I can say that I could find stuff way more enjoyable to me than weed to spend my money on. Like more ammo or a new gun. I know people back home that would smoke a carton every few days. And they smoked name brand cigs at like 25+ dollars a carton. Do the math that is a huge ammount of money expended on cigs.

It would definatly make the govt. a huge ammount of money if taxed (which it would be).

For the record I have never in my life used cigarettes, or weed. And I don't feel the need to do it either.

yes but (depending on state legislation) you can grow your own tobacco and make your own wine, so even though the government could tax it they couldn't really control it.

I have the belief that if it were legalized/decriminalized people would grow it themselves and/or by it from local farmers/growers as opposed to walking into Rite Aid and asking for a 5 gram box of Indica.

good point.. I do think in some ways it would be a good thing to legalize. Get all those derelict dealers off the streets and out of your kids school zones. Pot is EVERYWHERE, and the cause for so many petty crimes. I dont see anymore harm of it being legal than alcohol is?

I wouldn't for the same reason I don't smoke cigarettes, but I would not judge anyone or try to push my morals on anyone who did. I enjoy FREEDOM more then I enjoy telling people what to do.

While I myself have not smoked it, I have been around it several times in my life. Had roommates smoke it in college, sat across the room from someone smoking and exhaling out the window, been to many concerts where folks are passing the pipe, etc. For some folks, it makes them act stupid/crazy. For others, it has a relaxing effect similar to having a couple of beers. My Dad, being a teenager in the 70s, told me he had tried it a few times but never got anything out of it. And I don't think he was just telling me that so that I wouldn't try it, as my parents are very lax about most things and not overbearing. He gave me my first beer, and have always raised us to be responsible.

I don't know if I would or not. I do drink on occasion, but that's about it. I would think that if it were legal, given the right situation, I might try it to see what all the fuss is about. But like with cigars/cigarrettes, which I smoke once in a blue moon, I don't think it would become a regular thing with me. I do enjoy a nice cigar, and if I'm at a casino and drinking beer, I'll smoke a few cigarettes, but outside of that I don't do any smoking.

I do smoke cigarettes. I have tried marijuana (many moons ago in college). It did nothing much for me beyond giving me a terrible headache every time so I chose not to ever try it again even if it were offered. Hence, even if it were legalized, I would have no interest in using it. (I am very libertarian in my views on recreational drugs and I would like to see them all legalized even though I have no interest in using or trying any of them).
