One for the pocket.

As the hiking/mountain biking season is coming in, The .45 has taken a back seat. I need a compact pistol for the pocket (I wear baggy pants/shorts). Ive narrowed my choices to these. Keep in mind my biking will be on trails, as well as "urban" environments.
  1. Sig P232 (.380ACP)
  2. M&P compact (9MM)
  3. S&W 642 Airweight (38 special)
Comments welcomed.

Recently bought my wife the M&P compact 9mm and it is a nice little gun. I think you would be very satisfied with it.

The Sig is a nice gun - but it is rather heavy - and it's somewhat big for a 380 - when U can get 9mms of somewhat similiar size.

If U do go that route, however - look at the Bersa Thunder. It's only $200-$250, and is just as good of a gun.

I had a bersa and it either was a lemon or bersa's just plain suck. I'm still on the fence about which it was...

You say Pocket Gun? I say Keltec P3AT (.380). Best investment I ever made...

Up that 642 to the the 340. Only problem is money. The 642 being $500 vs the 340 at $950.

Hmmm......

Since the other 2 pistols are kind of heavy why don't you consider a model 60 in Stainless steel. They run about $600. It will be a little heavier but no where near as heavy as a M&P compact fully loaded. You will have the advantage of 357mag.

Use a pocket holster and there won't be a preoblem. If you guys want to learn some stuff about pocket carry Downrange TV has some great videos on pocket carry and CCW in general.

Not sure if you looked at this yet before coming up with your finalists, but how about a Ruger SP101 hammerless in .357? Just a thought.
