Which Extension?

I'm going to place an order with pistolgear sometime in the next few days and I'm going to add some magazine extension to it, but wasn't sure which ones to go with.

They have 3 listed, the Arredondo, the NHO, and the Pearce. Do I have to have the NHO magwell to use the NHO extensions? I'm thinking the Pearce is out because it will only add one to the 40. I'm defnitely leaning towards the Arredondo because of the price and capacity.

I use Arredondo on mine when I am at the range, +3 with .40. The only problem is with the stock springs the slide stop does not fully engage when empty. There is a Glock mag spring out there that is used to remedy the problem, search the forum for those details, as this is where I read about it. Anyway They work fine, They are easy to Install and Unistall. look decent when used. The only time I use these extensions for Carry is when I have my shoulder rig in tow.

Also, how do these work with regular mags with the sleeve for a SC? I'm thinking about either doing a grip chop on my service, or getting a SC. If I could use the extensions on a mag with the sleeve, then I might go ahead and do the grip chop. But I see no point in the extensions if they will interfere in any way with the full sized mags with the sleeves.

They attached the same way your base plate does now, so intern if your baseplate works with The extension grip, As it does. The Extension should as well. I dont believe there would be a problem, I bought mine at Pistol Gear. Just give him a call and he should be able to answer your questions.

No, it's the other way. If you have the NHO magwell, you must use the NHO extensions.

The Arredondos work great.

They dont work very well in my 15 round 9mm xd mags. I got a lot of FTF.
The spring was not strong enough to push up the rounds.
Do they work better in the 16 round mags???

Why are so many people voting for pearce extension, they sort of suck for the XD. They were orginally designed for a Browning Highpower and if you insert them forcefully on an open slide your likely to break your ejector. Arredondos are only a bit more expensive and were designed specifically for the XD you can't break you ejector with them and they have the proper internal width to accept the magazine spring unlike that Pearce that are not quite wide enough for the spring (the 16rd 9mm and 12rd 40).

{shakes head in disbelief wander out of thread}

Replace the Mag spring with a 170mm from glock.. search the forum you can find the exact details of what to use.

Yeah, I'm wondering if the folks voting for them realize that I'm asking about the Pearce Plus Two extension that increases capacity, or if they see "Pearce extension" and automatically think about the Pearce Grip Extension. In my opinion, the Pearce is the worst of the three, and only added one round of capacity to the .40, while the NHO and Arredondo both add 3 to the .40.

The Pearce was the cheapest option, and like they say, you get what you pay for. I went with the Arredondo one because the capacity was the same as the NHO, for half the price. And I liked the look of it better. I posted in the general forum that I am planning on doing a grip chop to my service. I ordered a SC mag, the mag spacer, and a couple of extensions to keep for range use.
