Whose upgraded to Vista??

Well I bought the upgrade for my laptop. I got Vista Home Premier for $159.99 and it didn't seem to bad of a price. The install took about 3 hours. No big issues, just a few driver updates.

I like Vista a lot. I have a Dell E1505 with a 1.86ghz Dual Core Intel and 1gb of RAM and I must say that upgrading to Vista GREATLY improved the performance of my laptop. It seems to run faster and smoother, and the features of Vista are very helpful.
Who else has taken the plunge and how do you like it?

Having dealt with computers since well before the PCs came out, I can only say that will be waiting for Service Pack 1 before moving to Vista.

I'm still running Win2000 professional on most of my computers. I have a laptop with XP, and I've thought about putting Win2000 on it.

I have XP Pro on my laptop, and am perfectly fine with it...

+1 on waiting for the first service pack to be released. I will probably have a new desktop pc by then anyhow, which will probably come with Vista pre-installed.

It's not that Vista itself is bad... the 3rd party support leaves a little to be desired. And well, Vista itself annoys the hell out of me - always asking for permission, not keeping static IPs that I assign when troubleshooting wireless networks... just a few of the quirks I've noticed so far with my limited experience with it.

I keep telling my customers to hold off to get it unless they're
A.) Buying a new PC with Vista on it
B.) KNOW their software/hardware will work

you should add, "who hates pc's altogether." i'm not a mac freak, i've only been back on them for the last year, but damn i missed them. after 12 years of using pc's i went through over 8 computers and at least 20 hardrive formats due to viruses and software issues. the compatablity of the mac is amazing, no asking annoying questions, while still having excellent security features. sorry to go off about the mac, i'm hooked now and will never go back!

win2000?! Even Microsoft wouldn't recommend 2000! It is the worst bit of programming to be released ever!

All joking aside Microsoft admitted it wasn't finished, refined, or stable when they released it and no updates make it better. Be careful with it.

As far as Vista, it needs time before I will bite. I have used IE7 (when I can't use Firefox or Opera) and MP11 since they were beta.

I don't even care.

Maybe when all of the bugs are worked out, and I have a strong reason to upgrade I will.
