It should be there. If you don't see it go in under Search and type in "XD ownership, by caliber". I'll be checking to see if you found it. |

Define "grievously harm." I once cracked a femur with a baton and some other misc. injuries have resulted when BGs have resisted arrest. Some of these have also included hyper-extended joints, bruises and abrasions, a couple of loose teeth and small 2nd degree burns from contact tasing.

I've only had to mortally wound two people while wearing the badge. As far as the military goes... All I'm going to say is that you kinda lose count after your first 50 kills. I distinctly remember that the first 3 were VERY hard psychologically, but it got easier for ME. Your mileage may vary. Its a job, and you have to look at it as such. Thats all I'm sayin.

Not sure if things like this are what you mean, but this is the only time I...
I was actually scared.
Had a drunk get mad at me while driving and pulled in behind me at a light. I had no idea it was going on but he came up and grabbed me by the throat and when he did he also locked my door. I punched him in the neck somewhere and he let go. I decided a quick exit was in order, unfortunatly for him, he stood too close and as I smoked the tires, I shredded his left foot. I was about 4 blocks away when I spotted a cop and flagged em down and told them what happend. When we returned to the intersection he was sitting on the curb, drunk as a skunk, and the cops told me to just go on home, so I did.

Stupid, stupid punk-a$$ drunk decision in my youth. At the time I was sure it was self defense but I have spent 32 years knowing I was as big a jerk as the other guy.
Also an ugly home invasion by 6 jacked up armed bangers.

I can happily say in 27yrs. in le, I never had to grievously harm or kill someone in the line of duty. I came close twice tho.
Once as a cadet in an incident featured on tv with Peter Falk in about 81 (incident occurred in 76). Second, when I caught bank forger exiting bank. He refused to stop, returned to his car (2 others inside) and started pulling his hand out of his jacket. I would have shot him, but there were some looky loos in a lot above him that didn't speak English and wouldn't move. I was afraid of a richochet, so I didn't shoot. He did it twice, but it turns out he had no gun. He was under the influence of heroin, so he was acting stupid. As I said, I'm glad I never had to. |
