Which one to get in a XD Subcompact?
Is the 9mm a good choice? Is the .40 too snappy? If you have any thoughts or pictures on the XD Subcompact - please share I am going to carry this gun, but I am not going to shoot this thing 1000 times a month, so cost of ammo is too important.. I want a caliber that is reliable, and good to shoot so again if ou have any stories, experiences with the XD SC please share with me |

It's funny you ask. I'm torn between the same two myself.

.40
You'll get used to it and the 9mm will feel like it didn't move at all. Plus, you won't have to forever rationalize if the 9mm is good enough for self defense.

I chose 9mm but I do own a .40 SC and did own a 9mm SC but sold it to a friend, wish I kept it.
Read this http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot27_4.htm go to the end and read lessons learned about the .40 #2 2. The "more powerful" .40 S&W did not penetrate as well as the 9mm rounds.

Personally I don't like the .40 as it's too snappy. Great round but with the advances in 9mm ammo, I usually carry my 9 millie. I also carry and love the .45. I love the big bores but a bit too expensive to shoot as much as I like.

Various testing has shown that you can't really go wrong with any of the major calibers. They are all about even when firing HP rounds.
It all comes down to personall choice. I got a 9mm becuase I feel that with the advances in HP ammo that it is just as effective as a .45 or .40 or insert caliber here. And ammo was about half the price of .45acp. I like to shoot and already have a .45 I wouldn't want to feed 2 of them at the same time.
