That's interesting because I feel that the NRA is being too defensive and not as offensive in the legislative process. We should be seeing them fighting to repeal unconstitutional laws that are already passed, reducing the power of the BATFE in the firearms legislation process, as well as working to stop new legislation.

I'm not saying that they should be repealing the National Firearms Act, but no more importing of surplus firearms; no more American demilitarized ammunition and firearms able to be sold to the public (talk about a good way to recoup money); and guns banned from importation by brand (norinco, Kalishnikov, and others) is wholy anti-capitalistic and largely pandering to the extreme left.

I didn't really want to get into a politicical discussion, just referring to something I read in the paper once.

Yeah, I was just stating my belief.

I guess Herbert Walker Bush and I don't agree on the NRA.

My father bought me my Lifetime membership 2 days after I bought my XD. I had been interested in joining, but I couldn't float the $750-$1000 for the lifer. Apparently he found a coupon to get a lifetime for $300.

I became a member last year, courtesy of a karma by TASF Overkill (thanks). I renewed it a few months ago when I went to a local gun show. I'm also a member of the state NRA related org.

I just became a Life Member last year. Prior to that, I wasn't a member at all. I just never really thought about it even though I have owned firearms since I was 12 (I am now 50). But several years ago I got my CHL and became re-interrested in firearms and RKBA issues. I figured that the $750.00 was little enough to donate to a group that had been doing so much for me even though I wasn't a member. I am also a "Life Member" in B.A.S.S. and N.A.F.C. but (to me) there is a difference between what these two and what the N.R.A. stand for and are trying to accomplish. I have heard about the $300.00 family membership and am going to look into getting one for my sons.
