I needed my shotgun a few times. Damn doves flew straight at me! I was in fear for my life.

I'm happy to admit I have never needed to draw my weapon. It will be absolutely necessary when I do.

I used good awareness and just avoided the unsavory characters. A little awareness goes a long way.

Cool

Red light, dade county, 0300 hours after a trauma call in, black/hatian with a tire iron, shinny H&K USP 45 in stainless steel... Never knew a man could do the 'road runner' for real.

1:30 am, burgler in my home. Came in the door, and there he was with a crow bar that he used to gain entry through the back door. He broke my right collar bone, shoulder, and my nose when he tried to club me in my head. I didn't side step fast enough...... Drew with my left (I carry cross draw and I'm right handed) from the floor, fired all 8 shots at the blurr in front of me, striking him 5 times in the stomach and leg, died later from his wounds. Cost me everything to beat a manslaughter charge and a wrongful death civil suit. That was 8 years ago this coming May and I still have nightmares.

I hope no one ever has to go through that, and i know most won't talk about it if they have.......its a life altering ordeal, alot different than you see on TV or go through in the military. Took me along time to 'calm down'.

I'm sorry you had to go through that. I am glad that you are ok and are able to tell us that story today. You are a good example of why the right to bear arms is so important.

What woke you up, the noise of him breaking in?

Your story is also a good example of how the legal system in this country is so out of control. I mean, talk about perverting the law. Filing a "wrongful death" suit against someone who defended himself against an attack?

Yea, and who ever says that a .32acp (ball ammo) is ineffective is full of it.....from a Sauer 38H that served on my Great grandfather's side in WW2.
