Heinies have a great profile for combat shooting and a vary fast and accurate sight picture. They have a great snag free design that helps with the over the top "Gunsite" slide rack. I would prefer to have Warren Tactical sights for the gun but I like the dot over dot sight picture of the Heinie Straight 8 sight much better than 3 dot night sights.
See the way the front of the rear sight is sloped? It keeps from cutting your hand and lets you be more "forcefull" when racking the slide.
The sight picture is very simple and there is no confusion between which dot is the "middle" dot when it comes to the front sight relation to the rear sight.
The sight picture is very similar to what is found on premium target sights just tougher. Once dialed in for a 6 o'clock hold or point of aim point of impact at 20-25 yards you can easily make shots in a fast efficient manner.
