Megans Law?

We've been throwing political polls around as of late and this is a topic that has me running circles around myself. I'd love to here what people think and why.
I'm all for #6

Here's the site in question www.meganslaw.ca.gov

I think I have to agree with overkill on this item, (1) if the person is dangerous then they shouldn't be released (2) a 'free' man shouldn't have any less rights than other free men.

A slight hijack, but this is one of the reason's I'm strongly in favor of capital punishment for murder and rape cases.

A hijack of a hijack, but a little remorse can lead to becoming a crispy critter? Uhh, wayyyyy too many grey areas and too many he said/she saids for rape to be a capital crime, except under the most heinous, egregious, and verifiable situations.

If they are that dangerous, they should not be allowed to be free. Period.

If their crime involved children or violence they should be shot. (+1 about capitol punishment, in verifiable cases)

I say even if they served their time they need to be easily background checked. putting all criminals on the web would cause problems at first but it would be easier to track them and people could find out who they were hiring much easier.

There are certain actions that carry consequences that'll change someone's life forever, even to the point of premature death, committing a murder or raping someone would fall into that category. I see nothing wrong with putting to death a murderer or rapist EVEN if they feel sorry about it.

Should we waive other penalties if someone that committs a crime is remorseful?

A hijack of my own hijacked thread. Since people from out of CA are also interested, how many other states are passing laws like this?

I love how they give it a purely emotional thing.

The name tells you absolutely nothing about the law.

But play it on TV.... If you vote against "Megan's law"... What kind of sick monster would vote against a poor little girl was a victim of a horrible crime?

No Child Left Behind
You WANT to leave children behind?

USAPATRIOT Act
You're not a patriot?!

Assault weapons ban
You don't want to ban assault weapons?!

There should be a law against meaningless media-friendly names for laws. And I'd like to call it "Whoever votes 'nay', your mother wears army boots and has mustard on her nose, act".

+1; Not to put another hijack in here, but if a person commits a crime in a particular way, murder, for instance, kill them the same way they killed their victim. Use the gun, knife, axe, hammer, (insert method here) on them with the same number of blows, torture or any other 'inventive' ways that they killed their victims.

They should not live in relative comfort, having their 'rights' protected as aggressively as they denied their victims their rights.
