Though it is a little large for my nightstand, if someone broke into my house at night they would be staring at the business end of an FN Tactical Police Shotgun. Would at least make them think twice about doing anything but leaving.

I have a XD45 with Insight X2 light on my nightstand....but leaning on my nightstand is my Mossy 500A 20" loaded with 00 Buckshot...someone broke in once....I racked the slide on the Mossy...handed to my wife and took the XD with me to investigate ... I guess they decided to depart...go figure. Thank god for the Pump-Action Shotgun!

I have a gunvault deluxe (the bigger one) next to the bed with my XD45 and 2 mags of Federal Hyra-Shocks. I have a Glock G3 light affixed to blind the intruder if necessary.

In the same vault is a Taurus 608SS revo which can do 8 shots of .357

Right now I'd reach for the XD cause I'm more familiar with it.

I also have kids, and I have a gun vault bolted to my nightstand. I would never leave guns out.
