PayPal Poll // CrossBreed Holsters

Howdy All,

We currently take paypal, and over the phone credit card orders as well as mail-in checks and money orders.

I would like to know the general concensus on busineses that accept paypal but still offer an alternate form of payment for those in the gun community who don't or won't use them.

This has come up a couple times over the past month or two and I would just like some feedback on the issue from the shooting community.

Thanks fer respondin'

I don't mind using PayPal, but I always prefer businesses that accept other forms of payment. Especially since it takes me repeated attempts to remember my PayPal password sometimes. I am not sure what sort of issues you may be looking at or anything, but I think you offer a good range of payment methods. If people dislike paypal, they can avoid it, and I don't think anyone can really blame anyone who wants to keep the paypal option open...it's a nice option.

Yeah, it's really hard to blame paypal for their policy...it's not a bad policy, really, considering the possible liability issues.

Craig

Up until this last month we took both paypal as well as had a real merchant account with visa, MC, Amex. Well for the last two years 98% of my payments still came from Paypal. Basically I got tired of paypal even though it worked we payed a min of 30.00 a month for the merchant account a big waist of money since most payed through paypal so I got rid of it this year. Well Paypal again came around with another series of antigun shut downs. Basically I was left with all my eggs in one basket and at any time paypal could close my account and freeze the funds. Well I went to my bank and found a really good option for another merchant account with better rates even with non present transactions. I will never go back the bank knows what I do and they dont care about the firearms stuff. Basically I wont go back to paypal even though alot of people still want to use it. I ended up buying a security certificate for the website so more people are apt to buy onilne so they know their information will not be stolen, and the ones that still dont trust online transactions can still call.

I dont blame them for the antigun policys whats really worrysome is if they deem you have broken their policy then they will freeze your money even if they are wrong. One perfect example was I got my account shut down for a weekend becuase they said I was selling ammo. Well what they saw were safety trainers molded plastic training bullets. They saw bullets and shut the account without reading the rest of the description. After lots of phone calls and jumping though hoops I got the account returned but never again will I be willing to have to try to make a living from it. Its just to unreliable. So other than the unreliability I had a lot of people still pay with paypal.

I don't pay any mind if I use paypal or not, as long as I can verify the site is secure to make a transaction.

I'm in agreement with the article saltysquid presented. Ebay has limits on items as well; example, magazine capacity (e.g. nothing over ten, although it does not prohibit members from contacting each other, given they abide by current laws)

That is my biggest fear, I pay the bills and feed the kids by making holsters, I can't afford to have an account locked. I already use a couple different baskets anyway.

BTW Ebay has dumped a couple of my lisitings because they couldn't tell the diff from a blue gun and the real thing. SHEESH!

Make sure you don't keep too much money in your paypal account. Its not a matter of if your account gets shut down, just a matter of when. I'd clean it out every day. My account got shut down for buying a magazine and a barrel.
