Please help me choose
I'm going to look at some new Labrador puppies next week. They have yellow ones and black ones. I like both and can't decide, so maybe a poll will help.
Which do you like more, yellow labrador or black labrador?

Neither. Pick one with a good temperament. Get a good dog and you won't care about the color. Pick a PITA dog and you will regret it.

^ agreed. I've had both, currently it's a black. They're all people pleasers. Don't know anything about this "papers" nonsense. Usually pick the one that most resemble a lab at the pound. My present one jumped out from behind a dumpster when she was just a lost, lonely pup so she (in her mind) obviously belonged to us and that's the way it was to be.

Both are gold 'ole American dogs, can't go wrong with either. Was at the beach Sunday and this gal was walking a Yellow lab, German Shepard mix, really cool looking dog

judge not a dog by the color of its fur but the content of its character.
my mom got a chocolate lab / pointer mix as an 8 week old pup now weeks later, she is like 35 pounds and the vet believes she is Chesapeake retriever and Pointer. I know she is big and strong for being so young and she is very territorial with an 80 pound bark in a 35 pound pup.
I was hoping she was Lab but Chesapeake is pretty good.
a good dog is where you find it.

I'd choose neither. I'd suggest going to the local shelter and picking up a dog that will be every bit as great as a breeder puppy if not more so. Not only do you get a great dog for much less money with shots/neutering/spaying/chipping already done you also get the benefit of saving a dog's life.

Don't pick a pup based on looks. Observe the dogs playing. Don't get the one that is the most hyper, and don't get the one that is an outcast/anti-social. Go for middle of the pack. Which one has the best mannered parents? So on and so forth.

Pick a dog with a good disposition, especially if you have kids or grand kids around.

Pick one that is shy at first but once it is familiar is playful. Don't pick the one that hides in the corner and DO NOT pick the one that runs around like an idiot because that's what it will be is an idiot. I know from personal experience lol. Good luck and I hope you get a good one.
Labs are my favorite dog. They are very trainable very loyal and can be very intelligent dogs. Keep it occupied and train it well and you will have very few issues. Beat it and you will have a coward and let it get away with anything and it will destroy your home and chew up anything it can get its teeth on.

Please look at pounds first. Large breed dogs like Labs are commonplace there, especially black labs.
Black dog + large breed = not getting adopted and more than likely put to sleep.
It's ridiculous to pay for a breeder puppy.
