Well since you are inquiring for med-long range. bolt action
a lever action is just not capable of the accuracy of a quality bolt action.
with major work it can come close, but the bolt locks up consistent.
the lever action is more difficult to shoot prone.
now close to mid range I might choose a custom lever action.
sights are sights regardless if comparing the same.

First Post! Anyway, having shot rifles since I could hold them up I would have to go with a bolt action every time. I just find them more accurate and I feel more comfortable with reloading after each shot. With a lever action I just find myself jerking it alot more and I can keep a better sight picture with a bolt action. Also, I dont really have any problem with getting quick shots off with a good rest. Practice Practice Practice!

Man it is so nice to have a working keyboard again!!!!
So how does lever action actually make an accuracy difference?

If you take away the two piece stocks ability to flex. ( most common argument)
The bolt locks up in the breach.
where as the lever produces unwanted flexing at the locking block.

I mean, you can be accurate with either equally at reasonable distances. It depends on what you are wanting to do with it. When I hunt or do any kind of long range stuff I wouldnt think of a lever action. You get a better seat in the chamber with a bolt action and the floated barrel definitely gives some increased accuracy. The lever action is a good rifle, but I usually wouldnt use one for anything more that about 100 yards. The rounded bullet tip doesnt quite cut through the wind as well as the bolt action rounds and are more susceptible to wind IMO.

The distance that I would use for SHTF in my neighbor hood then a lever would do the trick for 100 feet or so. I can get more rounds off quicker with a lever.
Just an old fart giving his opinion.
