I just keep track by how many bullets I've used, since all I shoot thru my XD is reloads, I just keep track by how many cases of bullets I've gotten off from Chuck.

I think my XD has around 10,000 thru it since Sept 04.

OK it looks like I'm the most anal about this so far. I have a spreadsheet where I track every shot through all 5 of my guns. Not only how many rounds but I've got it down to manufacturer and bullet type/weight too. I take digital pictures of my targets and put them in the spreadsheet also. I calculate a score after each session and post that with each target. With all the data it's easy to see if I'm improving and if it can be attributed to an ammo change, recoil spring change or change plain improvement.

I only track the round count through a new carry gun. After 500 and I'm happy with the performance I stop counting. I reload so when I take a box or bag of ammo to the range I only guesstimate as to how many I take and bring back. Plus I typically have more than 1 gun and caliber with me at the range at any given time. On top of than one of daughters goes with me about 1/3 of the time and we share ammo and guns. If I tracked what I put through them I wouldn't have the time to launch anything down range.
