What 9mm below $600
Which 9mm would be a great purchase for my wife who enjoys shooting? Can't be a XD or Glock, cost below $600, fit her smaller sized hand(her feet are size6.5). I already know that she does not like the feel of either of these fine pistols,,she shoots my Kimber often but is not interested in 1911's. Sorry this is an open ended question not really a poll, but all posts will be taken seriously. Current weapons include .45acp xd,, .40s&w Kimber stainless,, Ruger MarkIII Hunter,, Ruger 10/22 w/simmons scope.

Well, you said no XD's, though I can't understand why, since you only have the 45 version...
How about a Kahr? The P9 is a really nice pistol and ultra tiny. In full sized, I really hate to suggest this one, but I'm hearing a lot of people are very happy with the new SW M&P.

The Browning Hi-Power & the CZ-75 are 1-2 on my list.

if you want a nice, inexpensive 9mm, look at the Bersa/Firestorm 9mm thunder series. I've been very pleased with my .380 and they also have a lifetime warranty, like springfield.
ambidexterous controls can be nice for people w/ small hands... my buddy's gf will use her trigger finger on the left handed slide release b/c her thumb can't get to the righty's. also, i've been meaning to take a closer look at the Taurus line... millenium .45 is what caught my eye but they make a decent looking compact 9mm, too. Make sure she gets to handle (hopefully even shoot) before you buy. Has she fired any revolvers? i realize no 9mm but maybe she's not an automatic chick? edit: you may also want to put a post in "Non-XD Other gun area" and then run an actual poll with the top 3-5 choices/options you get. |

What about a kahr cw9. They are extremely small and can be found new for under $400.

Well I just discovered, that S&W makes the M&P in 9mm,,they don't have a price for it as of yet, but I have personally held this gun in .40 s&w and loved it and the price was less then the Glock or the XD. So this might be the ticket

I vote for Walther P99 w/ the A?S trigger. I have a Walther P99 compact in 9mm already, and a full size SW99. The SW99 (a P99 clone) was my fav gun, and I shot it better than my TRP 1911 I had until recently.
I finally found a full size P99 in 9mm (A/S trigger) this past week in Dallas. I bought it new, and I shot it yesterday. This thing is awesome. My first 3 shots out of the gun at 7 yards did this: ![]() This is awesome for me - a guy who has 1 hand that shakes a bit (left hand). After it happened, I stopped at 3 and just decided to save the target. Later on, I was putting many rounds thru the same hole. For whatever reason, it's even more accrate than my SW99 (I swopped back and forth at the range). I highly recommend the P99. I don't see the point in paying $1k+ or so for expensive 1911s after I can shoot both my SW99 and P99 better. |
