either or ...i carry .40 but prefer 9mm.
my carry gun came very cheap, is accurate & reliable.
only down side is ammo is pricey so i don't range shoot as often as i do with the 9mm.
so, if i had a deal on a small 9mm like i did with this G-27 then i would switch, but until then i'm totin .40S&W.

I used this to help me decide.
Select 9mm then All, do the same for 9mm +P, 9mm +P+, and then .40 SW. I looked at single shot stop percentages to start with... Just an idea

I carry two guns for protection. Either a Sig P250 in .45 ACP or my Ruger SP101 in .357 mag.

Why would that make you lean away from a 1911 over something else? I'm just curious as to your reasons for this, not trying be confrontational.
I carry a 1911 in .45

You'll get more practice w/ a 9mm, unless money is irrelevant to you. You'll also get more chances to stop "the beast" in a 9sc. It's a good choice.
